Gold bar scams are an increasingly widespread form of fraud, costing victims millions. In these schemes, scammers—often pretending to be government officials or tech support—claim that a person’s bank account is at risk. They then pressure the victim to liquidate their savings into physical gold bars, which are later picked up by fake couriers. No legitimate government agency will ever instruct someone to do this.
